100 points Falstaff Guide: "A dark ruby core with purple nuances. On the nose, notes of blackcurrant and mulberry, earthy nuances, dark chocolate and alabaster. Intense and precise on the palate, with tightly woven tannins, multi-layered and powerful but with great finesse and an incredibly long finish. (10/16/24)"

99 points James Suckling: "Mesmerizing aromas of sandalwood, lavender, sage and currants. Mint and spearmint. Lead pencil shavings. Light coffee bean too. Medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins. It goes on for minutes. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, and 10% petit verdot. So approachable already, but this will age beautifully. Best after 2026 and beyond. (11/28/23)"

99 points Luca Gardini: "The symbolic wine of the house, the first to put the winery and the region 'on the map'. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, nose of small black fruits, notes of laurel, mint and Mediterranean herbs, taut and dense drink, with salty tannins, closes with a fruity and oily return."

97 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Fattoria le Pupille 2021 Saffredi is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot that offers seamless integration of dark fruit flavors that bleed directly into spice, Tuscan cigar and earthy iris root. This vintage is compact and firm, especially in terms of mouthfeel, and there are graceful floral tones to close. The winery team has been tweaking the oak regime, landing on 60% to 65% new oak complemented by once-used barrels. They've been working in this manner since 2019 to establish sweet and integrated tannins. Drink: 2025-2045. (Mar 2024)"

97 points Wine Spectator: "This pure, intense red is infused with black currant, blackberry, blueberry and violet aromas and flavors, accented by graphite and wild herbs. Very tightly wound, racy even, with bracing acidity and refined tannins, this classy red leans more to the elegant side, with terrific harmony and length. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2027 through 2045. (10/31/24)"

97 points Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux): "(60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot). There is a ripe black fruit puree sweetness to the Cabernet that places you in Tuscany, and a purity to the cassis and mint that is striking - many Bordeaux Cabernets don't have this purity of fruit. A great vintage, of course extremely young but delicious, with sinewy tannins, lashings of spiced rosemary, liqourice root and oyster shell salinity. 70% new oak for ageing. Saffredi was 100% Cabernet Sauvignon until 1990 (grafted onto an old Sangiovese plot), and continues to amaze even with the addition of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Right up there at the top of what a Bordeaux blend can do on the Tuscan coast. Amazing from owner Elisabetta Geppetti. Alcohol 15%. Drink: 2026-2042. (9/3/24)"
