98 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Saffredi brings full-throttled intensity in a very well-balanced wine. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (10%) spends 18 months in mostly new oak. This vintage is compact, firm and precise, with lovely floral aromas on the bouquet in front of blackberry and plum. Long oak toasting gives the wine tasty notes of spice and cinnamon and rounds the bouquet off nicely. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety. This is a complex, integrated and absolutely beautiful wine. Drink: 2020-2040. (May 2019)"
97 points Raffaele Vecchione (WinesCritic.com): "A wine that is relaxed on the nose and precise in its vibrant energy reveals mixed and authentic hints of red plums, myrtle leaves, black tea, and Indian spices. Rich in spice in the background, it reveals black pepper and juniper berries. Medium-full bodied, solid on the mid-palate with well-extracted tannins of excellent quality and a sharp finish with great vibrancy. Best from 2021."
95 points Falstaff Guide: "Radiant, deep ruby red with violet glints. Opens with notes of smoke and truffle, underlaid with ample blueberry nuances. Substantial, hearty tannins on the palate marked by an onset of fine spice, traction. Needs further ageing. (8/29/19)"
