96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Freshness and additional aromatic relief in Clos des Forêts, whose energetic and finely coated material is carried away by a dizzying final breath of limestone glow. Fleshy in its tannins, deep, racy, integrated, it is a great wine for ageing, but already accessible. (2023)"

95 points Anne Krebiehl (Falstaff): "Slight smoke and crushed red and black cherry define the nose. The elegance carries right through to the palate where assertive tannins and full fruit combine into quite some punch. This is a muscular and old Nuits - characteristic of place and vintage. (1/25/22)"

93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Forêts Saint Georges 1er Cru is very elegant on the nose with brambly red berry fruit, touches of damp loamy soil and just a very slight ferrous aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very focused and pure with just the right amount of acidity. Very harmonious, this is a gorgeous Clos des Forêts that should give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure (at least). Drink: 2025-2050. (Dec 2021)"

94 points Tim Atkin, MW: "Reserved on the nose and even a bit obstinate on the palate, this will need time to come around. The structure is lovely with pulsating tension surrounding the robust, black fruit core. There's a woodsy, spicy undertow here, too, from the generous new oak. These oldest vines here are about 65 years old and the youngest are about 30, so the resolute concentration is no surprise. 2024-32. (2022)"

90-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "43% whole bunch. A rich deep dense purple colour. Concentrated dark fruit, there is a plummy richness to the fruit, suggests maybe picked a day or two late. Pleasingly fresh finish, almost a bit angular, as if there are two parts to the wine which have not yet fully integrated. The structure suggests picked a fraction too early, the fruit says it needed to be harvested. (Dec 2021)"

91-93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from an enormous 7.1 ha monopole planted in the early 1950s). Deep ruby. Markedly earthy aromas include notes of garrigue, poached plum, cassis and a smoky component. The rich, energetic and well-detailed larger-scaled flavors evidence solid muscle and power on the moderately rustic, balanced and complex finale. This beautifully long effort is a classic Nuits in style. Drink: 2032+. (Jan 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(A relatively massive vineyard monopoly of 7.2 hectares – it’s half of the domaine – with three distinct soil types, all harvested and vinified separately). Almost a saturated colour. A deep nose of vibrantly dark fruit and a graphite-style mineral component. Wow concentration but completely airy in the delivery of the flavour – the same in the finish – a certain elegance to the flavour despite the intensity that came before. Potentially great but you should have 10-15 years of waiting in mind – as a starting point… ‘At least 7’ says Géraldine. (Dec 2021)"
