97 points James Suckling: "Currants and blackberries and hints of walnuts and spices. Lavender and rosemary. Full-bodied, layered and so beautiful. Great tension and brightness. Crushed stones. A pure cabernet sauvignon. Great definition. Drink or hold. (5/23/18)"
97 points International Wine Report: "[$200 list] The 2015 'Dr. Olmo' is a simply stunning wine from Larkmead. Composed from older vines,15-years or more, which are planted on Cortina gravel and spent 19 months, 59% new Tonnellerie Sylvain. This stunning Cabernet instantly impresses with its seductive aromatics of fresh ripe blackberries and dark currants that are woven together with graphite, cocoa powder, violets, herbs and mineral nuances all taking shape. Medium to full-bodied, and impeccably structured with beautifully polished, velvety tannins wrapping the deep core of ripe dark fruit. It goes on to display wonderful concentration and precision, remaining incredibly focused before expanding across the palate. Dr. Olmo is a total beauty in this vintage and while it is already utterly captivating it also displays the potential to thrive in the cellar for decades. Drink: 2020-2035. (May 2019)"
96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Of the three top Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Olmo is the most classic expression of Cabernet and offers Pauillac-like notes of black cherry, cassis, lead pencil shavings, espresso roast, and gravelly minerality. It’s full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, and will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and shine for 20-25 years or more. (12/29/17)"
95 points and 'Editors' Choice,' Wine Enthusiast: "This 100% varietal wine is fresh and inviting in its nose of exotic spice and blackberry bramble. A dusty texture of soft supple tannin is interwoven effortlessly in dark chocolate, caramel, violet and crushed rock. This wine is structured to age but also well worth enjoying now. Alcohol 14.7%. (Nov 2018)"
94+ points Lisa Perrott-Brown (Wine Advocate): "The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Olmo (Black Label) is scented of cedar, rose, dusty earth and incense over a core of warm red and black currants, blackberry compote and anise plus a touch of Mediterranean herbs. Medium to full-bodied and very firm, taut and muscular in the mouth, there is loads going on here, but this needs time! Give it 3-4 years at least, and drink it over the next 15+. Drink: 2020-2036. (Oct 2017)"
Producer notes: "100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The aromas on this wine are captivating! The warmer vintage leads with warmer tones on the nose - Black rose, a bit of Earl Grey, mahogany with a hint of dried herb and a Winter potpourri. Black licorice and Morello cherry come at you from the secondary aromas coupled with a piney, forest floor undertone. The palate continues the assault of aromas and flavors - graphite, crushed rock, bittersweet chocolate frame a core of macerated blue and black berries. When the blue and black fruit dissipate on the palate the structure on this wine is crunchy and gravelly, reflective of the soils in which the vines are planted. Barrel aged 19 months in 59% new French oak. Alcohol 14.7%. 1,301 cases produced."
