94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Once again, the 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard contains the young high-density plantings that Lamy deems insufficiently mature to merit inclusion in his Haute Densité cuvée. Offering up aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, its satiny attack segueing into a taut, chalky mid-palate and a long, mineral finish. Drink: 2027-2050. (Jan 2023)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard 1er Cru has a straight down the line limestone-scented bouquet with a touch of shucked oyster shells. The palate is very harmonious, taut and fresh, with crisp acidity and impressive tension. A surfeit of energy on the finish, this is a seriously fine Saint-Aubin. Drink: 2025-2042. (Jan 2023)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(Not the ‘hd’ cuvée, but this is still planted at 14k/ha.) A slightly more structural nose but with a little floral to relax the aromas. Fuller in the mouth – here is volume, mineral and citrus, again with a faint austerity but another potentially top wine. Finishing saline and chalky again. (12/23/22)"
