93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Les Vignes d’Autrefois bottling from Aurélien Laherte is composed entirely of old vine pinot meunier, with the two parcels that the fruit for this wine hails from having been planted in 1947 and 1964. The vins clairs are barrel-fermented and aged in cask for seven months prior to bottling up for secondary fermentation; it was disgorged in November of 2021 and finished with a dosage under five grams per liter. The 2018 offers up a beautifully refined bouquet of white peach, apple, pâtissière, chalky soil tones, just a whisper of oak and a beautifully floral topnote of meunier’s inimitable flowers. On the palate the wine is brisk, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, fine soil undertow and cut, elegant mousse and a long, young and well-balanced finish. I would guess the dosage for this particular bottling is close to zero, though the label does not state this definitively. Consequently, at least to my palate, it will need some cellaring time to soften up its acids before it drinks with generosity. 2027-2055. (May/Jun 2023)"
100% Pinot Meunier, planted in Chavot between 1947 and 1953. This wine is all about balance and tension, between crisp red fruit, mineral intensity and delicate floral and spice notes. Aged in older barrels and roughly 30 months on the lees.
