91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Pink purple and perfumed, at first discreet, but in fact with greater intensity to follow. The fruit has retained an ideal freshness and there is dancing, nuanced vibrant red fruit, alpine raspberries with cherry top notes, altogether a long, balanced and sublime Volnay. (Oct 2020)"

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "This cuvée is blended from grapes harvested in four separate parcels in the heart of the appellation, underneath the premiers crus and using vines at least 50 years of age. After destemming and ageing in older casks, the lovely plummy fruit shines through this wine, with a dense, rich texture that is not lacking a firm tannic grip on the palate. Drinking Window: 2021-2039. (10/24/20)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Volnay 'Vendange Sélectionée' comes from four parcels located just under the Premier Crus that tends to have more complexity and structure. There is a clear difference on the nose compared to the Village Cru with deeper red berry fruit that is certainly more intense. The palate is beautifully balanced with chalky tannins, red fruit with a lovely piquancy on the finish that fans out wonderfully. Superb. Drink: 2023-2040. (Dec 2020)"

90-93 points/'Outstanding/Top Value,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a blend of vines that average 55 years of age situated in Grand Champs, Echards, La Gigotte and Pluchots). A more deeply pitched and ever-so-slightly riper nose combines notes of plum, various dark berries, anise and violet. There is a touch better density to the equally refined and mineral-driven flavors that pack excellent punch on the more complex, longer and noticeably more structured finale. Villages-level Volnay does not get much better and in all the years that I have been tasting this wine, the 2019 vintage is potentially the best yet. Buy it. (Apr 2021)"

90-92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Deeper and more age-worthy, the 2019 Volnay Vendanges Sélectionées delivers pretty notions of rose petals, violets, plums and berries, complemented by rich bass notes of loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's bright and penetrating, built around refined tannins and tangy acids. (1/14/21)"

91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Lafarge family’s 2019 Volnay 'Vendanges Selectionées' is excellent. The wine delivers a refined aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, plums, gamebird, a lovely base of dark soil tones, the first hint of the black truffles to come, woodsmoke and just a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a good core, lovely soil signature, suave, buried tannins and a long, complex and very well-balanced finish that closes with just a touch of fresh herb tones from the whole clusters. Fine juice. 2028-2060. (Jan/Feb 2022)"
