94 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The Vendanges Selectionnée is a step up from the straight Volnay in both concentration and depth, with black and red fruits and notes of earth, leather and spice. The texture is more substantial and the finish is much longer, too. The grapes are from vines aged 50 years or more, located just underneath the band of premiers crus. Grapes are destemmed and fermented on native yeast before ageing in cask (10% new). 2027-2045. (11/11/24)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Volnay Vendanges Sélectionnées comes from four selected parcels located just below the Premier Crus and matured in 10% new oak. This is a level up from the regular cuvée with more fruit intensity and presence, presenting raspberry and wild strawberry laced with undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive concentration, gentle grip and a slightly chalky texture toward its finale of frisson and energy. Very fine. Drink: 2028-2045. (Jan 2025)"

91-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "10% new wood. A more definite purple colour. Lively raspberry, such stylish wines, not enormously more grip than the regular, perhaps an extra tannin at the very end, but the velvet covering lasts even longer at the back of the palate. Superb finesse. (Dec 2024)"

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The old vine cuvée of Volnay “Vendanges Selectionées” is also outstanding in 2023. These vines now are all over sixty years of age and have really excelled in this fine vintage, offering up scents of plums, red and black cherries, raw cocoa, pigeon, a lovely base of dark soil tones, just a whisper of new oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully sappy in the mid-palate, with fine-grained tannins, excellent mineral drive and grip and a long, complex and tangy finish. Premier cru quality! 2035-2080. (Jan/Feb 2025)"

92 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com) (2025).

92 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The 2023 Volnay Vendanges Sélectionnées seduces with its silky texture and fine tannins, although the oak aging remains noticeable. (2026)"

90-92 points/'Outstanding/Top value,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a blend of vines that average 55+ years of age situated in Grand Champs, Echards, La Gigotte and Pluchots). A slightly riper, and more deeply pitched nose features notes of red and blue pinot fruit, plum and a subtle whiff of spice nuances. As is almost always the case, there is more volume and power to the medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding length on the balanced, firm and built-to-age finale. This is an outstanding Volnay villages and one to look for. Drink: 2031+. (Apr 2025)"
