These vines now are all over sixty years of age and have really excelled in this fine vintage, offering up scents of plums, red and black cherries, raw cocoa, pigeon, a lovely base of dark soil tones, just a whisper of new oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully sappy in the mid-palate, with fine-grained tannins, excellent mineral drive and grip and a long, complex and tangy finish.
