91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "3 barrels from 15 ares, all to be bottled in magnums. An even medium deep crimson. The nose shows a pleasing pinot purity, while there is an abundant wealth of cherry fruit before the more austere finish which denotes this terroir. The fruit comes back beautifully behind. Very fine boned in 2022. (Dec 2023)"
91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a small .15 ha holding in Chanlins; destemmed manually). Soft if perceptible wood frames cool, airy and layered aromas of dark cherry, plum and discreet earth nuances. The succulent but impressively intense medium-bodied flavors flash excellent minerality on the detailed, moderately austere and decidedly compact finale. Pitures (Chanlins) always needs extended cellaring to showcase its attributes and this beautiful version will likely be no different. Drink: 2037+. (Apr 2024)"
90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Volnay Les Pitures 1er Cru is only bottled en magnum as it's a small cuvée (0.15ha) and is more backward on the nose with touches of seaweed inflecting the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm and slightly granular tannins. It's not quite as finessed as the Les Mitans, but the finish has plenty of substance and grip. A broad-shouldered Volnay. Give it 4-5 years or more in bottle. Drink: 2027-2042. (Jan 2024)"
