The ripe quince and pear fruit aromas accented with bright herbal notes are alluring and lead into a lively yet rich texture that is the hallmark of the best whites in ’21. The wine comes from 85-year-old Aligoté Doré that is pressed as whole clusters, fermented in tank on native yeasts, and then aged briefly in older casks. This wine is a reference for the category. 90 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté “Raisin d’Orée” from Domaine Lafarge is a beautiful example in the making. The grapes for this were picked on September 5th and really show exceptional depth this year from the short crop. The bouquet hops from the glass in a mix of lemon, green apple, salty minerality, dried flowers and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with lovely complexity, a good core, fine mineral undertow and a long, zesty and focused finish. This is really superb aligoté this year! 2023-2035. (Nov/Dec 2022)"
