95 points Claire Nesbitt (JamesSuckling.com): "A focused and savory red with sleek and tight tannins. Very precise. Medium-bodied with fresh herbs, currants, blackberries and oyster shells. Stones and dried flowers, too. Fine finish. Tannins are round and complete. Already approachable. From biodynamically grown grapes. Better after 2025. (5/18/22)"

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 La Lagune has turned out beautifully, offering up aromas of cassis, dark berries, loamy soil and sweet spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety, layered palate that exhibits excellent depth and concentration structured around powdery tannins, concluding with a perfumed, violet-inflected finish. This is a strong effort and a worthy, somewhat more muscular follow-up to the sensual, charming 2019. Drink: 2025-2055. (4/6/23)"

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Smoky black fruits, tobacco, gravelly earth, and spicy oak all emerge from the 2020 Château La Lagune, one of the most concentrated, structured Haut-Médocs out there. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has terrific overall balance, building tannins, and a great finish. It needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years and will evolve for two decades or more if well-stored. Drink: 2027-2047. (3/29/23)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2020 La Lagune is terrific. Rich, bold and explosive in the glass, the 2020 offers up a wild array of aromas and flavors. Spice, dried red cherry, cedar, tobacco and white pepper abound. More than anything, I very much admire the vibrancy and overall energy here. A whole range of floral and savory accents punctuate the finish. Drink: 2026-2042. (Feb 2023)"

93 points Jane Anson (Decanter): "This comes in strong with both grip and attitude. Some austerity that shows through in the abundant tannic frame, but there is a juiciness that runs through the palate, a sense that it is light on its feet. Liquorice, black chocolate and a spiced tomato leaf adds layers, but things close down on the finish. This is certified organic and in biodynamic conversion. A yield of 30hl/ha. Drinking Window: 2028-2040. (May 2021)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 La Lagune has a lovely bouquet of pure, very perfumed black fruit laced with violet petals and undergrowth. The oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, classic in style and harmonious, building notes of cedar, black pepper and tobacco toward the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. Drink: 2028-2055. (Nov 2024)"

93 points Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux): "(65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot). This is excellent, one of the best La Lagune in years, has the serious tannins of the vintage, underlaid by liqourice, cassis and juicy bilberry, tomato leaf and pomegranate. Fresh acidities, liqourice root and bitter fennel add bite and interest. Great stuff. Organic certified, in biodynamic conversion. Alcohol 14%. Drink: 2028-2044. (1/10/23)"

93 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "The 2020 from Caroline Frey and here team at La Lagune begins with an attractively dense and perfumed nose, with blackberry, vanilla and crushed plum fruits. The palate shows an honest sense of integration, with a lovely freshness to the fruit, which is dark and vibrant, and set in a richly polished and seamless texture. Rather savoury and peppery through the middle, a little racy even, with a good balance of fruit, grip, texture and acidity, it then continues through to a strong finish, with vigorous tannic grip. A very impressive showing from this estate, and perhaps testament to the property’s recent conversion to organics? The alcohol is 14.1%. (Dec 2022)"

93 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Cigar box, smoke, tobacco leaf, flowers and red pit fruits with a background note of coffee bean open the wine. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine is soft, supple, fresh and vibrant, with energy and loads of ripe, red fruits that linger in the elegant finish. Drink from 2024-2045. (Mar 2023)"

93 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, opaque core, delicate rim brightening. Ripe plums, black cherries, some nougat and figs, fine herbal savouriness. Juicy, fresh red cherries, lively, mineral style, round tannins, long lasting, a balanced food wine with certain ageing potential. (2/22/23)"
