94 points James Suckling: "Blueberry aromas with black-cherry and blackberry undertones, as well as some graphite. Full body, firm and chewy tannins and very attractive, dark-fruit undertones with wet earth and moss. Solid, classic style to this. Try in 2023. (1/13/19)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 La Commanderie has developed nicely. Silky, aromatic and nuanced, the 2016 shows the more fragrant, delicate side of Pomerol. Floral notes add brightness to a core of sweet red berry fruit. Lithe and understated on the palate, the 2016 is pure and total class. Drink: 2021-2031. (Jan 2019)"

92 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): " From 3.7 hectares of vines aged about 40 years, vinified in concrete vats and aged in 50% new oak. Now in bottle for a few years, it maintains a nose of dark and peppered fruits, with currants and black olives, scented with sandalwood and cedar. The palate has a very bold presence in the start, with a shell of structure sitting around a rather lightly textured centre of peppery and slightly sandy fruit. Despite those sandy scents this still feels very primary, and quite modern in style. It has potential but it perhaps lacks a little of the elegant balance seen elsewhere in what was generally a very successful vintage. (Sep 2021)"

91 points Decanter: "Floral and smoky with herbal notes, warm spice, raspberry and plum on the nose. Plump with a vein of freshness and salty, graphite minerality. Supple with gorgeous strawberry fruit underpinned with fresh acidity. Well delivered. Drinking Window: 2023-2040. (3/4/23)"

91 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Already open, medium bodied, fresh and juicy, the fruit offers lift and sweetness and plenty of juice in the finish. This is clearly the best vintage of La Commanderie ever produced! (Sep 2019)"
