96 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina races out of the glass. Chalk, white pepper, crushed rose petal, cinnamon and salt abound. For readers who want to understand what Montefico is all about, well, this is it. Over the last year, the Montefico has started to flesh out a bit. Perhaps one day it will catch the Montestefano. For now, the Montefico is a Barbaresco to admire for its vibrant, mineral-drenched personality. Drink: 2027-2044. (Oct 2022)"

95 points Kerin O'Keefe (Wine Enthusiast): "Aromas of violet and prune emerge from the glass along with new leather and forest floor. The full-bodied palate is still young but already offers cherry marinated in spirits, baked plum, vanilla, game and licorice set against a backbone of noble tannins and fresh acidity. Drink after 2029. (Sep 2022)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Rocca family’s holdings in Montefico sit right up at the top of the vineyard in a section called Bric Mentina, with the vines now thirty years of age. The bouquet of the 2019 Montefico is truly stunning, offering up a deep, precise and gently sappy blend of red and black cherries, beautiful spice tones, spit-roasted pigeon, a complex base of minerality, fresh oregano, a touch of orange peel, bonfire and a topnote of rose petals. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and nicely structured, with a rock solid core of pristine fruit, great soil signature and grip, firm, chewy tannins, bouncy acids and beautiful focus and balance on the long, complex and utterly classical finish. This is one of the greatest terroirs in the township of Barbaresco and the Roccas’ Montefico is a stunning example of this great vineyard. 2035-2100. (Sep/Oct 2022)"
