92 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): "Pale gold. High-pitched aromas of Meyer lemon, pear skin and smoky minerals, with a hint of clove in the background. Tight, mineral-driven orchard fruit flavors put on weight with air and pick up a sexy floral quality and a touch of dried fig. Finishes tight and long, with an emphatic mineral kick. (May/Jun 2014)"

Producer notes: "Our 2012 One Sixteen Chardonnay is sourced from seven incredible vineyard sites in the Russian River Valley. Named after the Gravenstein Highway 116 which cuts through the town of Sebastopol, this wine embodies the true character of the Green Valley sub-appellation--a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sweet spot within the Russian River alley. This wine expresses beautiful aromas layered in green apple, lemon-lime citrus, orange blossom, honeysuckle and toasty tangerine. On the palate, lush lemon lime and tangerine citrus. The flavors are succulent, fresh and lively on the palate, with a supple vanillin crème brûlée texture. The finish gradually turns crisp with a final wash of mouthwatering natural acidity. 93% barrel fermented and aged (228-liter barrel), 7% concrete fermented. Barrel aged for 15 months in French oak (41% new). Alcohol 14.4%."
