Kilchoman is one of the youngest distilleries in Scotland. Known as Islay’s “Farm Distillery,” they launched the Loch Gorm line in 2013, named after a famously peaty loch at the end of the Kilchoman Drive. The Sanaig, named after an inlet on Scotland’s rugged Atlantic coast, is a vatting of Kilchoman aged in a combination of oloroso sherry casks and bourbon barrels, neatly balancing the contrasting influences of rich sherry maturation, bourbon-barrel finesse, and Islay peaty smoke. Plenty of fruit as well as earthy peat come through, with a touch of dark chocolate-covered raisins.
