100 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "This is mineral magic! Unbelievably concentrated, but also unbelievably elegant and refined on the medium-bodied palate, this defies easy description. As you swirl the glass the various aromatic dimensions of the wine—stone fruit, citrus, fresh herbs and chalk dust—reveal themselves one after another. Incredibly long, pure and stony at the mind-blowing finish. Drink from release. (8/19/24)"

98-100 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "From the Abtserde plot within the Brunnenhäuschen site in Westhofen, the 2023 Abts E Riesling GG is incredibly pure, deep and intense on the nose that is concentrated and chalky, with saline and lemony notes. Full-bodied, pure, fresh and saline on the palate, this is a highly complex and tight Riesling with a very intense, aromatic and structured finish. A great Riesling! Tasted as a sample in May this year. Drink: 2025-2070. (10/31/24)"

97 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Vinous): "The 2023 Riesling Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen Abtserde Grosses Gewächs is from a site between Kirchspiel and Morstein with the high active limestone. The shy nose teases with immensely pure but tender lemon peel notes, still interspersed with reduction. More air adds lemon balm. The palate is a picture of slenderness, brightness, freshness and limestone coolness. Underneath that is salt, stone and immense juiciness. Zestiness reigns, bringing length, depth and extra dimensions of citrus radiance. This is luminous and pure. (Bone-dry) Drink: 2028-2060. (Oct 2024)"

96 points Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2023 Abts E®, as it is referred to on the consumer label, is a bone-dry wine made from a selection of small-berried fruit picked in the Abtserde (hence the “Abts E®” play on word), which is a prime sector of the Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen vineyard. It displays a gorgeously spicy and floral nose of lily flowers, grapefruit zest, lime, fine spices, herbal tea, spearmint, white peach, ginger, and fresh almond. The wine is superbly pure and intense on the palate, with plenty of spices and fresh almond flavors. The finish proves very slightly broader yet hugely elegant and vibrating. The aftertaste shows a touch of tartness and tannins in need of integration. This beautiful and impressive dry Riesling is set for a grand future! 2033-2053. (Sep 2024)"
