98+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "In 2013, Klaus-Peter Keller noted that the berries in the Abtserde were half the size of those in Morstein, giving this wine an otherworldly quality to its textural profile and simply haunting aromatics. The brilliant nose delivers an aromatic constellation of white peach, lemon, clementines, again, a very crystalline expression of limestone, white flowers, lemon blossoms and a gentle smokiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and primary, with magical purity, seamless balance, bottomless depth at the core and a very racy, elegant and endless finish of great refinement and backend energy. Simply brilliant! 2023-2075. (Mar/Apr 2014)"

94-95 points Stephen Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "For the 2013 Westhofen Brunnenhauschen Riesling trocken Abts E (the spoken term Abtserde is officially not allowed) Keller harvested 40% less compared to 2012 but the 2013 is perhaps one of the greatest dry Rieslings he has produced so far. Lovely pure and fresh limes along with white-fleshed stone fruits (peaches, nectarines), wet chalk, white pepper and tobacco characterize the nose which is fresh, dense and fascinatingly precise. Obviously due to a higher tolerance for a certain amount of botrytis the palate is quite rich, creamy and juicy but less pure and naked than Wittmann's corresponding Brunnenhäuschen. However, this is a dense, tightly woven and enormously complex dry Riesling whose taste is persistently dominated by lime and yellow-fleshed aromas as well as a lovely, stimulating piquancy. This is surely a galvanizing and elegant Riesling to keep for another 4 or 5 years at minimum and enjoy it for a decade. Drink: 2018-2024. (May 2015)"

19/20 points Michael Schmidt (JancisRobinson.com): "There are many who regard the Abtserde as the jewel in the crown of Keller’s Grosse Gewächse, and if you are an ardent admirer of the mineral aspect, this view would be well justified. The contribution of fruit is a little more restrained in 2013, leaving room for a profound herbal expression to add complexity. As always in challenging vintages Keller has managed to accumulate an incredible amount of extract which does give the Abtserde a very generous texture and almost Burgundian character. 2014-2025. (9/21/14)"
