Producer notes: "Juan Gil 18 meses is produced from Monastrell (60%), Cabernet (30%) and Syrah (10%). Purple/black in color, it proffers a nose of pain grille, graphite, earth notes, spice box, black fruits, and a hint of balsamic. It opens in the glass to reveal excellent density, savory flavors, plenty of spice, and a lengthy, pure finish. It will evolve well for 2-3 years and drink well for many years."
Not yet reviewed; 2018 vintage rated 93 points by Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "Glass-staining ruby. A highly aromatic bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, licorice, mocha and exotic spices, along with a floral nuance that builds in the glass. Sweet and expansive in the mouth, offering juicy blueberry, cherry-vanilla and violet pastille flavors that show impressive energy for their heft. Rich yet lively and precise, finishing with strong, spicy thrust, an emerging mineral quality and smooth, polished tannins. Drink: 2023-2030."
