94 points Decanter: "Ripe and concentrated plummy character on the nose with hints of oaky sweet spices. Rich in the mouth yet showing some restraint. Soft tannins, with a fresh acidity providing balance. Nominated by Yohan Castaing. Drinking Window: 2021-2040. (10/2/21)"

92-94 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "From a vineyard now 12.8 hectares in size, planted with 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc. The Merlot was picked between September 24th and 27th, the Cabernet Franc on October 11th. It looks vibrant and fresh in the glass, and aromatically it is marked by scents of grilled cherry and grilled pip, rather perfumed and stylish, and very different to the Joanin-Bécot of old. This is surely down to the involvement of Thomas Duclos with the Bécot estates. The palate is very fresh, with grilled cherry and perfumed raspberry, clearly very elegant. There is a touch of creamed concentration to the fruit, with a finely polished and silky tannic substance, good energy and fresh acidity. There is a lovely freshness in the finish, with a delicately chalky character. Pretty, very correct, and very bright. Well done Juliette. (Apr 2019)"

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Emerging from the team of Beau-Séjour Bécot, the 2018 Château Joanin Bécot is based on 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc coming from the limestone soils of the Côtes de Castillon region. Lots of black cherry and redcurrant fruit as well as leafy herbs, dried flowers, chalky minerality, and camphor emerge on the nose. This carries to a medium-bodied, seamless 2018 with terrific overall balance, ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length on the finish. Tasting like a topflight Saint-Emilion, it will benefit from a year or so in the cellar and impress for at least a decade. Readers looking for a brilliant Right Bank wine to put in the cellar should jump on this beauty. (Drink between 2021-2033. (3/11/21)"

92 points James Suckling: "A very pretty, subtle red with berry, meat and chocolate aromas that follow through to a medium body with round, creamy tannins and a delicious finish. 30% amphora. Very fine and drinkable now. (1/31/21)"

92 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "The intriguing touch of mint that comes with all the ripe, black cherries, licorice and chocolate hits the spot. The wine offers nice richness and intensity with silky tannins and layers of elegant, ripe, sweet, round, juicy, red fruits that feel as good as they taste. (Mar 2021)"

91 points (15.5/20) La Revue du Vin de France (2022).

90 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2018 Joanin Bécot is a very pretty wine marked by strong Cabernet Franc aromatics. Crushed red berry, mint, raspberry, sage and dried flowers all grace a mid-weight, silky Côtes de Castillon that is more about savory nuance than power. Drink it over the next decade or so. Drink: 2021-2028. (Mar 2021)"
