90+ points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(from the September bottling, which was lightly fined; the earlier April bottling was lightly filtered) Medium ruby. Aromatically complex, superripe nose combines blackberry, black raspberry, prune, licorice, gunflint and game, along with a suggestion of hard candy. "Only the '95 approaches this wine in structure and color," says Jasmin, "but the '99 is more aromatic." Fat, sappy and sweet; dense but with noteworthy verve, thanks to solid acidity. Tightly wrapped flavors of black fruits, game and leather. Finishes firmly tannic and long. A very strong performance for this estate. (Jan 2002)"
90 points Robert Parker: "The 1999 Cote Rotie offers pretty flavors redolent with scents of black cherries, raspberries, plums, and cherries, with smoke, mineral, and paper white Narcissus notes in the background. It is medium-bodied, pure, supple-textured, and delicious. If it builds in the bottle, it will merit an even higher score. This is undoubtedly the finest Jasmin Cote Rotie produced in over a decade.
