94 points Ian D'Agata (Vinous): "The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino Selezione Iacopo emerges from the glass with a gorgeous, dusty bouquet of sweet rose and confectionary spice, complementing dried strawberries. It splashes across the palate with seamlessly silky textures and admirable depth, blending ripe red fruits with blood orange and clove, all guided by juicy acidity. This finishes dramatically long and potent, with a staining of raspberry preserves and tactile mineral tones, all energized by a twang of candied oranges. This seductive rendition of Selezione Iacopo is already giving in so many ways yet has the balance to evolve beautifully over time. Drink: 2025-2033. (Dec 2023)"
94 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "The 2021 Rosso Di Montalcino Jacopo takes a darker tone of the two and opens to aromas of raspberry liqueur, wild sage, lavender, and cherry candies. It has fantastic vibrancy on the palate, with fine tannins and a wonderful lift, and it fills the senses with all its personality and purity. Another exceptional wine, this one may be the most open to drinking early, although again, it will have some longevity over the next 8-10 years. (Feb 2024)"
92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2021 Iacopo bottling of Rosso di Montalcino from Il Marroneto, which is actually a selected blend of Brunello, is quite ripe in this vintage, tipping the scales at fifteen percent octane. However, it is fresh and vibrant on the nose, offering up a red fruity blend of cherries, red plums, gamebird, woodsmoke, a lovely base of soil, a dollop of fresh oregano and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, tangy and very nicely balanced, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent soil signature and grip, ripe, well-measured tannins and excellent length and grip on the complex finish. This wine shows absolutely no characteristics of being fifteen percent in alcohol, as it is not hot on the finish, fresh and vibrant in its fruit expression and very much defined by its underlying soil. A lovely wine that will need six or seven years in the cellar to properly soften up its tannins before it drinks with generosity. We do have to keep in mind, that though the label says Rosso, this is really one hundred percent Brunello, so some cellaring time should be expected! 2031-2075. (Jan/Feb 2024)"
