94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .20 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines located in Mazoyères). The layered and remarkably complex nose consists of underbrush, earth and floral nuances on the kirsch and wood trimmed aromas. There is a distinctly gamy and entirely serious character to the relatively refined yet muscular flavors that are impressively concentrated, all wrapped in balanced, velvety, overtly powerful and wonderfully long and slightly toasty finale. This is an excellent Charmes that should richly reward mid to even longer-term cellaring. Drink: 2026+. (Jan 2017)"

93+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Deep ruby-red Extremely dark aromas of black cherry, licorice pastille, crushed rock and violet Wonderfully rich, pliant wine with splendid volume and sweetness for the year Still very young but already displays lovely sucrosité that's nicely supported by its energy and structure Humbert told me his 55-year-old vines on soil featuring a lot of small rocks are not far from those of Denis Bachelet and typically yield a structured wine The dense, lively finish features black fruits, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate Drink: 2025-2035. (Mar 2017)"

93 points Tim Atkin, MW (2016).
