100 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 1947 Le Haut-Lieu Premier Trie is a remarkable bottle of Vouvray that is now fully into its apogee of maturity, and offers up nearly extraterrestrial complexity and depth. The refined, magical bouquet delivers scents of fresh apricots, honeyed quince, tangerine, saddle leather, notes of barley, vanilla custard, a delicate underpinning of chalk and a bit of tea leaves in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and pure, with great complexity, moderate sweetness at this point, and stunning freshness for a nearly sixty year-old bottle of Vouvray. The finish is long, crisp and shows tremendous length and grip. The combination of depth, complexity and seamless refinement to this wine is the stuff that legends are made from. This will clearly see its one hundredth birthday with vigor. An utterly profound and humbling bottle of wine. 2005-2050. (Nov/Dec 2007)"
