97 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The intensely golden-apricot colored 2003 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Franc de Pied opens to a pure, fresh and mineral nose, with concentrated apricot aromas intermixed with crushed limestone, lemon zest and hints of licorice. It is intensely aromatic, fruity and elegant on the nose, with perfectly ripe, yellow-fleshed stone fruits, chalk, wax, honey, nuts and Turkish nougat aromas. The palate is generous and rich but finessed and elegant, with a tight and persistent structure, great balance and a long, not to say nearly endless finish. This powerful and fascinating 2003 reflects the ripeness and generosity of the vintage and pairs it with purity, finesse and salinity. This 2003 is tight, fresh and wide, a complex and fascinating Chenin from a great year. It's a great and vital wine that drinks perfectly today but can be aged for at least another two decades. This is so self-evident and nonchalant... A truly great wine that's worth an extra try. Tasted in March 2019. Drink: 2019-2053. (May 2019)"
