92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Clos du Four is always the biggest wine in this lineup of single vineyard Mâconnais wines chez Lafon, but in 2014, the elegance of the vintage really can be felt here as well. The first class nose delivers a fine mélange of apple, par, white flowers, a nice base of soil tones and a bit of nuttiness that seems more hazelnut than almond at this juncture. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a plump core, lovely soil signature, bright acids and lovely backend length and grip. This is quite tasty, but I would be tempted to tuck this away in the cellar for another year and let it develop some secondary layers of complexity. 2016-2025. (Nov/Dec 2015)"
91 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "(these vines were part of Lafon's original purchase; bottled in September; the only one of these wines done entirely in demi-muids): Bright lemon-yellow. Ripe peach and brown spice aromas are currently muted by the smoky reduction that's typical for this bottling. Strong lemony acidity (five grams per liter, according to Gon) gives cut and shape to the wine's silky, thick texture. Tactile, concentrated, structured wine with a very long, chewy, reverberating finish. The yield here is always around 40 hectoliters per hectare, according to Gon, who added that this wine is less marked by vintage variation than the estate's other cuvées. In a rather virile style but with no shortage of elegance. Drink: 2017-2024. (Dec 2015)"
