92-94 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Raised in 35% new oak with 55% whole bunch fruit, the 2016 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru les Millandes has an engaging bouquet with black fruit, wet limestone and sea spray scents. It is beautifully defined and very focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, slightly grainy tannin. There is plenty of smoke-tinged, almost flinty black and red fruit with a very harmonious, quite structured finish that feels persistence and satisfying. This is one of the strongest contributions from Heresztyn-Mazzini. Drink: 2021-2035. (Dec 2017)"
91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A wonderfully fresh nose is composed by red and dark currant, spice, violet and once again plenty of earth and game nuances. The medium weight plus flavors are slightly finer yet as is virtually always the case with a typical Millandes, there is excellent power to the mineral-inflected finish that goes on and on. This is quite firmly structured and is definitely going to require most of a decade before it will arrive at a point where the tannins have softened sufficiently to be enjoyed plus it should continue to improve for another 5-ish years after that. Drink: 2028+. (Jan 2018)"
91-92 points Steen Öhman (Winehog): "And now to something completely different – The Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes (vineyard located below Clos de la Roche). The nose is offering quite rich and intense red and dark berry fruit. Despite the 60% whole cluster grapes it’s still very much Morey at heart. On the palate a somewhat darker and more muscular – well constituted – without being dense and old school. A fine Morey 1er in the making. Drink from 2028. Tasted from cask: 22 Jun 2017."
