An elegant dash of just 7% Mareuil pinot noir red wine creates a pretty, bright pale-salmon hue and delightful perfume of rose petals and gentle red berry fruits. It contrasts the primary, precocious freshness and finesse of bright, mineral chardonnay with the gorgeous, succulent, juicy red fruit generosity that defines Mareuil pinot noir – no small task, especially in the warm 2018 season. Its fragrant perfume lingers from start to finish, holding very long, flattering and characterful, sustained by beautifully poised acidity and the prominent, fine, signature salty chalk minerality of the village. 92+ points Yohan Castaing (Wine Advocate): "A blend of 50% Chardonnay (based on the 2021 vintage, from vines planted in the commune of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ) and 44% Pinot Noir (from the same village and comprising a blend of the 2019 and 2020 vintages), the NV Extra-Brut Premier Cru Rosé displays aromas of rose, peony, strawberries and citrus. Moderately weighted and bright, it has a tense, delicate mid-palate, a pinpoint mousse and a long, precise and delicate finish. This blend contains 6% red wine vinified in barrels and was disgorged with a dosage of 5.5 grams per liter. Drink: 2024-2040. (10/24/24)"
