95 points James Suckling: "The purity of black fruit, black currants and blackberry is impressive, yet it remains subdued. Floral, ripe tobacco. Turns to spices such as cloves and Cameroon green pepper. Full-bodied, tight and compressed. Powerful yet polished and refined. The best Maiden ever. A blend of mostly cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Try in 2020 but so great already. (1/15/16)"
95 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Dark ruby, deep core, purple reflections, discreet brightening on the rim. Spicy bouquet with fine notes of fine oak, ripe black cherry, tobacco nuances, delicate nougat and candied orange, a discreet floral note. Not quite as complex as the Grand Vin, but very lively, finely-meshed and accessible, the Merlot share in the cuvée gives the wine an appealing suppleness. Alcohol 12.5%. (8/29/19)"

94 ponts Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Earthy in its personality, with a blast of ripe boysenberry, dark chocolate and fresh mint. Silky, polished and with a freshness that gives a great sensation of lift, there s ample concentration coupled with perfectly ripe fruit, making this clearly the best vintage yet of the Maiden. (Sep 2016)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2013 The Maiden is gorgeous. Deep, fleshy and expressive, but very much medium in body, the 2013 is pure finesse. Sweet floral and spice notes add attractive upper register, but it is the wine's total sense of poise that truly stands out. The Maiden is another recent wine from Harlan Estate that reflects a move towards greater finesse. The 2013 is an absolutely exquisite Maiden. Drink: 2018-2033. (Dec 2016)"
