93 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Retour a la Terre is bursting with flavors of pears in syrup and sweet spices, but lacks a little freshness, without quite recapturing all the magic of the 2022. (2026)"
92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Clay soils, the last to be picked, offering extra ripeness but less sugar, 13.27% (13.5% on the label), vinified in amphora. No deeper in colour, though the nose is clearly more honeyed. More of a cashmere texture. There is a faintly more oxidative nose, a nutty note on the palate but that is a question of character rather than instability. There was a last drop in a bottle open for 6 days and it was pretty much identical, perhaps having lost just a little of its fruit, but no oxidation. Drink from 2026-2032. Tasted Jun 2025."
92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Viré-Clessé Retour à la Terre, from a parcel selection on clay soils, yielded riper fruit compared to the previous vintage. Aged entirely in amphora for 11 months, it has a wonderful bouquet with white peach and sandstone scents, precise and expressive. The palate is quite saline on the entry, touches of chamomile coming through with time, leading to a lightly spiced and quite lingering finish. This might well have the edge over the previous vintage. Drink: 2026-2036. (Aug 2025)"
