92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "12.9% actual, so 13% on the label. Last picked, very ripe but not too high in sugar. Made in terra cotta amphoras. Clay in the lower part of the plot. Mid lemon yellow. Bread on the nose along with the fruit. Keeps brilliantly once opened. Love the balance of this, the fruit shows properly but not unduly ripe, pears not peaches, with excellent length. Love it! (Mar 2024)"
91 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Viré-Clessé Retour à la Terre is a selection within the largest block on clay soils that is picked on the final day of harvest. The grapes tend to be very ripe but have lower sugar levels, so they have half a degree less in alcohol, aged in terracotta jars for 11 months. Again, it conveys more complexity on the nose compared to the Quintaine, based on yellow fruit but intermixed with peach skin, a touch of lanolin and pear. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Wonderful purity, a light citrus element and white peach come through toward the finish. Clean, precise and sapid, this will be difficult to resist, but it will be intriguing to see it age in bottle. Drink: 2024-2038. (Aug 2024)"
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "The last harvest of the vintage but only 12.7° – with elevage in jars. A smaller but equally elegant nose. Rich again but not at the expense of energy once more – silky and mouth-filling. Faintly zesty finishing. You will have to wait for complexity but it’s a beautiful thing in the mouth already! (Nov 2023)"
