95 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "In spite of the dark forest berry fruit this has so much floral and mineral freshness, it is uplifting! Concentrated and very focused, the interplay of oak, fine fruit tannin and fruit aromas on the palate are spot on. Just bottled, so it really benefits from some air in the glass or decanting. A cuvee of 96% syrah and 4% viognier. Matured in 50% new oak and 50% used barrels for three years. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. (4/26/23)"

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The larger production 2020 Côte Rôtie Brune Et Blonde is a winner, and readers could do much worse than a case of this in the cellar. Ripe black raspberries, spring flowers, smoke, and some meaty nuances all shine here, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, fine tannins, and ample charm and character. Enjoy bottles over the coming 10-12 years or so (3/28/24)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "[$105 list] A polished, modern style, with a rush of black fruit, bitter cherry and incense layered with smoldering tobacco and cigar box. Succulent acidity races through, bringing balance to the svelte, smoky finish. Syrah and Viognier. Drink now through 2034. (3/31/24)"

91-93 points Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate: "Seductive, smoky notes of grilled bacon, ripe cherries and blueberries emerge on the nose of the 2020 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde. Full-bodied and reasonably concentrated, it finishes with an elegant wash of silky tannins. It appears reasonably forward and should be approachable soon after release. Drink: 2024-2035. (Feb 2022)"

92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Côte-Rôtie 'Brune et Blonde' bottling from Maison E. Guigal is fine example of the vintage, coming in at fourteen percent in this hot summer. The cépages this year is again ninety-six percent syrah and four percent viognier, with the wine aged for three years in small oak barrels. Fifty percent of the casks are new, so the wine shows a nicely new oaky personality on both the nose and palate. The bouquet delivers scents of cassis, smoked meats, a fine base of soil tones, dark chocolate, pepper, woodsmoke, a touch of bacon fat and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, ripe, full-bodied and complex, with a superb core of fruit, good soil undertow, ripe, chewy tannins and fine balance on the long, focused and very promising finish. All this lovely wine needs is enough time in the cellar to start to soften up its chassis of tannin. 2035-2075. (Sep/Oct 2024)"
