95 points Wine Spectator: "Dark and tight, this is pretty closed down right now, though a well of cassis and black currant fruit is certainly there, along with wet slate, sweet tobacco and licorice root notes. The finish shows lively bramble and sassafras hints alongside ample tannic grip. More backward than the typical ’19. Worth holding off on. -- Non-blind Groth Cabernet vertical (August 2024). Best from 2027 through 2040. (10/3/24)"

94+ points Jeb Dunnuck: "The deeper purple-hued 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a terrific Oakville effort loaded with pure cassis fruit as well as notes of spicy oak, scorched earth, and tobacco. Classic Napa Cabernet in every way, it’s medium to full-bodied, has ripe, polished tannins, a terrific spine of acidity, and the balance and purity to evolve for 20-25 years if well stored. Drink: 2022-2047 (5/4/22)"

93 points Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate): "Groth's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve substantially raises the stakes, showing much more richness and concentration than the regular Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherries and cassis appear on the nose, framed by cedar and vanilla, while the medium to full-bodied palate is velvety and expansive, flowing easily into a long, harmonious finish dusted with soft tannins. Drink: 2023-2035 (9/15/22)"

93 points James Suckling: "Notes of blackberries and cassis with hints of pine needles, cedar and chocolate. Full-bodied with firm tannins and a deep, juicy fruit core. Long and chewy finish with hints of stones. Rather polished tannins at the end. Try in 2023, to allow it to open. (11/19/21)"
