91 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Groth's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, hearty wine with good depth and density, but very much in the classic, mid-weight Groth style. Dark cherry, pomegranate, smoke, tobacco, menthol, licorice and dried flowers are nicely delineated in this attractive, expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. Give the 2015 a few years in bottle for the tannin to soften. Drink: 2020-2035. (Mar 2018)"
90 points and 'Very highly recommended,' California Grapevine: "Medium-dark purplish ruby; fragrant, spicy, red cherry and red berry fruit aroma with herbal notes and hints of cassis, cinnamon, mint, and vanilla; full body; rich, textured, cedary, cherry, red currant, and blackberry fruit flavors with good depth and intensity, herbal notes, and a trace of sweet oak; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Approachable now, though best to age for several more years. 14.9% alcohol. (Dec 2018)"
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Blended with 15% Merlot, this has a classic character of Old World savoriness, opening in a burst of cassis before becoming more well defined in cedar, clove and crayon wax. The firm tannins never distract, instead supporting a core of full-bodied roundness and plush texture. Alcohol 14.9%. (Apr 2019)"
Producer notes: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months in the barrel blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine."
