This behaved in a surprisingly friendly manor for Suchots at this stage, when it tends to be more reserved and sometimes even burly. Not so this time. Plus, its satiny tannins, gently textured mid-palate and elegant arch of back palate acidity makes it feel nicely integrated already. The texture is firmly tannic, but there is abundant density and the freshness to draw the wine to a lingering finish. The grapes are from a quarter-hectare in the lower section of Suchots where their neighbour is Comte Liger-Belair; Mathilde thinks of it as 'my little Richebourg'. Perhaps some of the refined detail of an Echezeaux. A slight sucrosity of strawberry fruit, and very persistent. Very good and extremely typical of Suchots this year. (Nov 2023)"
