It does not have to try too hard to give so much pleasure. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very crisp acidity, beautifully proportioned with a veneer of top quality new oak that will need three or four years to be fully subsumed. 93 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "I see lots of youthful character here, a nose of perfumed red cherry, redcurrant, peony and limestone dust, all wrapped in a very fine sheen of oak. There follows a very complete start to the palate, very elegant and poised, fresh and taut, with a tightly wrapped blanket of fruit. It moves through the flavours of aromatic red cherry, damson and a matchsticky liquorice twist, all passed over elegantly defined and almost seamless tannins. A very complete style, very true to the Grand-Puy-Lacoste style, demonstrating delightfully seamless elegance and a long, poised and integrated finish. Very good. (Nov 2018)"
