94 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent): "The 2016 Grand-Puy-Ducasse is deep garnet in color. It needs a little coaxing to unveil notes of baked black plums, boysenberries, and crushed blackcurrants, plus hints of dried herbs, pencil lead, and tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is clean and crunchy, delivering pure black fruits and a chewy texture, finishing with a mineral lift. Alcohol 13.5%. Drink: 2024-2040. (12/8/22)"

94 points (17/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "The 2016 remains solid, with a deep nose that reveals itself after a good aeration. On the palate, it is compact, with abundant tannins and structure: it needs time to develop. (2020)"

93 points Decanter: "Liquorice, tar, chocolate and cinnamon spices complement vibrant fruit. The palate is structured and slightly tight with chalky tannins but offers confidence, freshness and a toasty finish, showcasing great character. Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (4/20/25)"

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Coming from this vastly improved estate, this wine offers rich tannins, concentration, power and density. Blackberry flavors add a more immediately approachable side to this wine that should be ready to drink from 2024. Alcohol 14%. (May 2019)"

93 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Flowers, tobacco, cigar box, espresso, and ripe, sweet, dark red berries are all over the place here. The wine offers ample concentration, complexity, and character and it will drink well for at least 2 decades. Plus it sells for a song for a Pauillac at this level. Drink from 2025-2045. (Jul 2022)"

93 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Deep dark ruby, opaque core, faintly lighter at the rim. Soft scents of cassis and liquorice, delicately smoky and savoury, as well as a hint of cedar wood. Juicy, freshly structured, well-integrated tannins, blackberry jam on the finish, subtle sweetness, good length. (5/24/17)"

93 points International Wine Report: "The 2016 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. It starts off with vivid aromas of black and red currants along with cigar box and graphite nuances. Medium-bodied with firm tannin structure and lively acidity at its core. It shows notable tension and length on the finish. Overall, this is a beautifully crafted wine, but it will certainly require plenty of time to soften and become accessible. Readers should plan on tucking this away for at least 5 years before approaching. Drink: 2025-2040. (Jan 2019)"
