88-92 points Fine Wine Review: "At one time, this wine was an exclusivity of the United States, but now, the U.S. takes only about half the production. The wine is salty with dark fruit, medium-length, and a smooth texture. Some reduction may well be causing me to underestimate it here. (12/28/14)"
91+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2013 Chaînes de Carteaux was also just a touch reduced at the time of my visit and was destined to be the first wine racked after the holidays. The bouquet emerges nicely with some coaxing to show a blend of red and black cherries, venison, woodsmoke, fresh herbs and a lovely base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and again, very soil-driven this year, with fine mid-palate concentration, ripe, well-integrated tannins and very good length and grip on the youthful finish. This is not quite as complete and refined as the 2013 Chaignots, but it too is another strong effort. 2021-2055. (Nov/Dec 2014)"
91 points Wine Spectator: "[$74 list] Needs air to reveal the blackberry and black currant aromas and flavors, accented by iron, herb and tar hints. Fresh and silky, with refined tannins for support. Best from 2018 through 2030. 125 cases imported. (7/31/16)"
