98 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Giacosa’s 1999 Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto is a true classic. Laced with rose petals, tar and camphor, the 1999 is textbook Barolo from one of Serralunga’s very finest sites. What a wine! (Mar 2014)"

96+ points Ian D'Agata (Vinous): "(5.5 g/l total acidity, 3.45 pH, 27.4 g/l dry extract, 13.7% alcohol): Good full red. Knockout perfumed nose is packed with aromas of red cherry, licorice, coffee, tar and underbrush. Sweet, suave and wonderfully fine-grained wine with a compelling fleshiness to the creamy red cherry, strawberry and candied violet flavors, given shape by harmonious acidity. Though this Barolo comes across as sweet and supple, it has outstanding density and concentration of aromas and flavors, and its strikingly long finish features impressively smooth tannins and lingering sweetness of fruit. A simply spectacular wine: I really can't figure out why Giacosa didn't bottle this as a Riserva, since it has all the elements for future greatness. In any event, it's by far the best white label Le Rocche del Falletto ever. (Mar 2011)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "Offers amazing aromas of blueberry and raspberry, with hints of strawberry tart. Full-bodied, showing chewy, powerful tannins and plenty of fruit. A powerful, youthful, slightly austere wine, with a great future. Tasted from magnum.—'99 Piedmont blind retrospective (2009). Best after 2011. 950 cases made, 400 cases imported. (12/15/09)"

95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 1999 Barolo 'Rocche del Falletto' from Bruno Giacosa is a brilliant example of this underrated and totally stunning year. The bouquet is still quite young, but also suave and blossoming, as it wafts from the glass in a mix of cherries, licorice, gamebirds, incipient notes of camphor, a gorgeously complex base of soil, coffee, fresh oregano, a touch of hazelnut and just a whisper of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, nascently complex and loaded with sweet fruit at the core, with impeccable focus and balance, firm, ripe and very well-integrated tannins and stunning length and grip on the young, but still, so promising finish. The refined style of the 1999 vintage should make this wine start to blossom around age twenty, but I would still be strongly inclined to not really start drinking it for at least another decade, as the real fireworks here will not begin until the wine is at least a quarter century old. All this brilliant wine needs is more bottle age! 2019-2060. (Mar/Apr 2017)"
