96 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Wild rose, sun-warmed hay, cake spice, forest berry and camphor are just some of the aromas you'll find on the stunning 2021 Cerretta from Ettore Germano. The delicious palate picks right up where the nose leaves off, delivering layers of juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and nutmeg. Tightly woven, refined tannins provide weightless support while fresh acidity keeps it impeccably balanced. Drink 2031–2041. (Jan 2025)"

96 points James Suckling: "A complex wine with aromas of dark fruit, black cherries, violets, earth, minerals and touches of oak bark and rhubarb. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it shows dense, velvety tannins, woven acidity and a refreshing finish. Austere yet gracefully balanced, with a long, licorice aftertaste. Try from 2027. (Jan 2025)"

95 points Ian D'Agata Wine Review: "Good deep red-ruby. Aromas of violet, rose, earth tones, red cherry and plum. Then a little monolithic, with Cerretta’s sturdy tannins at full force, but this big and slightly compact, compressed wine is also quite elegant and very promising. Germano used 25% whole bunches here and I bet most of my readers won’t be able to tell when tasting the wine, but I think it has helped lift Cerretta into a somewhat more refined, complex world that is not usually the coin the wines of this cru are known for. Drinking window: 2030-2040. (May 2025)"

95 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Ettore Germano 2021 Barolo Cerretta is especially energetic and electric. The site has a big presence of active limestone in the clay, and you feel that tension and tautness over the bouquet. The wine is chiseled, direct and powerful, delivering on all cylinders. Like the other wines in this range, the tannins are nicely managed, and here I get the silkiness without the chalkiness. Cerretta performs especially well in this vintage. Drink 2026-2043 (Jun 2025)"

95 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "The 2021 Barolo Cerretta pours a deeper red to ruby color and is more enveloping on the nose, with notes of fresh leather, licorice, fresh plum, and mossy forest earth. It fills the palate with a graceful yet full-bodied feel and offerd plush, ripe tannins, even acidity, and a gently tapering and elegant finish. It will only improve as it ages and offer a more warming and rounded feel. Drink 2026-2046. (May 2025)"

93 points/'Cellar Selection' Wine Enthusiast: "Red berry fruit and floral notes lead the charge before this Cerretta flexes its muscles. Warm fruit compote flavors emerge as the wine opens, showing the structured personality that defines this vineyard. The palate turns decidedly chewy, with that characteristic Serralunga grip and the dark chocolate notes that mark this particular site. This brings power and concentration, needing a bit of time to unwind and show its best, but patience will be rewarded. Drink from 2027 (Nov 2025)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2021 Barolo Cerretta is powerful and explosive in the glass. Sweet macerated cherry, rose petal, blood orange, spice and mint all soar from the glass. Deep and pliant, with striking persistence, the Cerretta is one of the finest wines in this range. Best of all, it can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring if desired. Drink 2026-2038 (Sep 2025)"
