100 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is another headline achievement from vintner Fabio Alessandria. This wine certainly stands out in a crowd, and I would argue that its floral and herbal notes (linked to traditional whole-cluster fermentation) are more expertly and elegantly presented in this epic vintage. The wine shows growing vertical intensity with rosehip tea, crushed stone, bergamot and a spicy hint of ginger. But it remains demure all the while. The tannins in the Monvigliero are more resolved compared to the Cannubi and certainly the Castelletto, but the wine offers a different kind of structural backbone that permeates the entire palate with smooth silkiness, as opposed to showing up as textural firmness on the finish alone. That said, you'll want to put this bottle aside for more cellar aging. Drink 2027-2060 (Jan 2025)"

100 points James Suckling: "A perfumed wine full of intensity and vermouth-like complexity. Sweet spices dominate on the nose, with cinnamon, oak bark, peonies, Parma violets, violet candy and earthy strawberry fruit. Smooth attack, with a full body, refreshing lifted acidity and velvety, refined and elegant tannins. Savory finish full of details, with a rhubarb and dried orange aftertaste. Chiseled to perfection. A sleek wine for the long haul, but drinkable in two or three years. (Jan 2025)"

99 points Michaela Morris (Decanter): "A captivating fusion of spiciness and florality, perfumes of rose water, herbal tea and green peppercorn echo on the fluid palate. This is as suave as it is profound, an underlying chalky minerality driving it forward and mellifluous tannins so intricately and seamlessly stitched into every fibre. Sage, white pepper, cinnamon and orange blossom parade out in detailed succession on a finish of truly incredible length. Fabio Alessandria offers up another gorgeous Monvigliero in 2021. As always, he masterfully manages a 100% whole-bunch fermentation, explaining that even if not all the stems are completely ripe, that greenness can add freshness in warm years like 2021. Drinking window 2027-2045 (Jan 2025)"

98 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Iris, underbrush, perfumed red berry, new leather and camphor aromas lift out of the glass on the mesmerizing 2021 Monvigliero from Comm. G.B. Burlotto. Combining radiance and elegance with structure, personality with earthy sensations, the delicious palate possesses a pristine purity, delivering strawberry, wild raspberry, orange rind, grilled rosemary and truffle notes before closing on licorice and a salty note. Taut, ultra-refined tannins provide seamless but serious support while bright acidity keeps it impeccably balanced and energized. What a stunner. Drink 2031–2046. (Jan 2025)"

98 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is a wine of sublime elegance and finesse. Soaring aromatics make a strong opening statement, but it is the wine's balance I am most drawn to. The Monvigliero was bottled a bit later than the other Barolos and is therefore a bit closed. Spice cake, rose petal, mint, gingerbread and mint unfurl in the glass. Exotic and alluring, with mind-blowing balance, the 2021 is sublime. The Monvigliero is still coming together in bottle. It is a wine of crystalline precision and classic structure that remains light on its feet. Drink 2029-2046 (Jan 2025)"

98 points Ian D'Agata Wine Review: "Good lively deep red. Very spicy, almost exotic aromas and flavours of cinnamon, gingerbread, white and black pepper, crystalized blueberry and violet, plus red cherry. The long aftertaste is highly focused and energetic and speaks of menthol, strawberry-rhubarb pie and minerals. What do you want me to tell you, it’s just more of the usual gorgeous stuff from GB Burlotto and Monvigliero. Drinking window: 2030-2040. (May 2025)"

98 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "A singular and distinctive vintage, the 2021 Barolo Monvigliero leaps from the glass with lifted aromas of salted orange peel, concentrated wild strawberries, Asian spices, and brambly herbs. The palate is equally expressive and long, with profound structural tension and a noble feel, although it simultaneously has a singular expression of the place and winemaking style. It’s a brilliant wine all around, with great richness to its tannin structure, and it’s constantly evolving in the glass. Drink over the coming decades. Drink 2025-2045 (May 2025)"
