94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "A great example of the year, especially within its peer group, Burlotto's 2016 Barolo is deep, expressive and flat-out gorgeous. Dark cherry, lavender, spice, menthol and pine all meld together in a striking, wonderfully nuanced Barolo that has so much to offer. In the glass, the 2016 is fabulously deep, rich and super-expressive, with tremendous depth and intensity that carries all the way through from start to finish. The 2016 is a blend of fruit built on a core of Breri, Rocche dell' Olmo and Neirane. Burlotto's straight Barolo is without question one of the very finest wines in its peer group. Some of the better-known wines in this lineup have become almost impossible to source. Readers will find plenty of Burlotto signatures at an accessible price here. Drink: 2023-2041. (Feb 2020)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Barolo from Fabio Alessandria is a beautiful example of the vintage, offering up great purity and aromatic complexity, coupled to a refined, deep and full-bodied format that will age long and gracefully. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a classic Verduno blend of red and black cherries, gamebird, bonfire, camphor, a complex base of soil tones, fresh oregano and a topnote of rose petals. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very elegant in profile, with a rock solid core of fruit, excellent soil signature, ripe, very well-integrated tannins and a long, complex and perfectly balanced finish. This is simply a beautiful young Barolo and perhaps the finest vintage I have yet tasted of the Normale from Burlotto. 2028-2075. (Jul/Aug 2020)"
