96+ points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "[$140 list] Fratelli Alessandria started bottling Monvigliero back in 1978. The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero (with 7,000 bottles released) is a wine of extreme elegance and grace. It shows wild berry, redcurrant, lilac and light spice. Fruit comes from a 1.4-hectare plot with south and southwest exposures on silty limestone soils. There is a pretty note of floral sweetness over polished tannins that makes for a lasting impression. Drink: 2026-2042. (Jun 2025)"

96 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "The bright ruby 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is a sporty wine, focused and lifted on the nose with notes of cranberries, cinnamon, rhubarb, and orange zest, and as it opens, it softens a little to pretty strawberry fruit and floral aromas. The palate is equally focused and energetic, with compact tension, fine tannins, ripe, energetic acidity, and a detailed saline finish. It’s long on the palate, racy, and refined, and I expect it to benefit from time in bottle as it fleshes out a bit. Drink: 2026-2050. (5/1/25)"

95 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Showing class and an earthy finesse, the 2021 Monvigliero opens with alluring aromas of eucalyptus, succulent black-skinned fruit, truffle and tobacco. Reflecting the nose, the delicious, enveloping palate delivers layers of ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, tobacco and licorice before closing on a hint of game. Drink: 2029–2041. Abv: 14.5%. (Jan 2025)"

95 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "This is opulent, exhibiting cherry, raspberry, tar and iron flavors. Beefy tannins shore up the finish, keeping this red under wraps for now. A bit closed in the end, yet there’s a beam of pure red fruit throughout that lingers nicely. Best from 2030 through 2048. 542 cases made, 375 cases imported. (4/30/26)"
