94 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "This has exceptional depth for the appellation. Not just a wide spectrum of ripe red fruit, but also licorice, spices and bark. The full-bodied palate has a fabulous textural complexity, the fine tannins building beautifully at the very complete finish. Just doesn't want to stop. From three hectares of ancient vines. 80% grenache with some mourvedre and clairette. Drink or hold. (4/11/24)"

90 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "As I have mentioned before, Domaine de Ferrand’s 'Cuvée Antique' Vieilles Vignes bottling is made from ninety percent grenache, with the balance of the old vines planted in this vineyard planted to a field blend that includes syrah, mourvèdre and cinsault. The vines range from fifty to more than ninety years of age! The wine is fermented with native yeasts in cement and raised in concrete vats prior to bottling. The 2022 Cuvée Antique is a full fifteen percent octane in this vintage and delivers a deep and nicely ripe bouquet of red and black raspberries, fruitcake, garrigue, spiced meats, stony soil tones and a bit of clove in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, broad-shouldered and really pretty well balanced for its alcohol level, with fine depth of fruit at the core, good soil undertow, a chassis of firm tannin, tangy acids and good focus and grip on the long and complex finish. There is a bit of backend heat here, but it is really quite minimal. Like many examples in this drought vintage, this wine will need some time in the cellar to soften up its tannins before it drinks with generosity, but it will be a good bottle once it starts to blossom. This really is the quality equivalent of a good bottle of Châteauneuf du Pape. 2030-2055. (Sep/Oct 2024)"
