96 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Alluring aromas of dark exotic spice, black-skinned berry, violet and juniper waft out of the glass on the gorgeous 2021 Fontalloro. Elegant and structured, the chiseled palate is incredibly focused, delivering ripe Morello cherry, cassis, star anise and cake spice alongside taut, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it beautifully balanced and energized. While it’s tempting now, this is still in its infancy and needs time to fully develop so give it a few more years. Drink 2029–2036. Abv: 14%. (Sep 2024)"

96 points Raffaele Vecchione (WinesCritic.com): "Intriguing and decidedly noble in its sensorial profile, it shows notes of lemon flowers, hawthorn, elderberry, lemongrass, vetiver, broken celery and juniper berries. Medium-full body, bite and great charming character, shows balance and personality. Rich in grace, it is given away immediately but will grow over time. Better from 2026. (Aug 2024)"

95+ points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Fèlsina 2021 Fontalloro reveals an elegant bouquet with a streamlined character that delivers good intensity but never goes overboard. In fact, this vintage might be a little thinner than I remember past vintages being. But Sangiovese wears this slender style well and delivers lots of wild cherry and forest berry nuances along the way. You also get soft mineral tones and earthy iris root. This bottle should develop nicely with aging time in the cellar. Drink: 2025-2040. (7/25/24)"

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The nose has classic, delicate aromas of cherries, wild strawberry, blood orange, top soil and sage. On the palate, darker berries and more cherries contrast with a deeply earthy, bitter bite of citrus pith, while lithe acid flows past unifying tannins that are precise, but with a chalky toothiness. Alcohol 14%. (Dec 2024)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2021 Fontalloro is terrific. This is classic Fontalloro, a wine that offers notable density along with the wilder personality of Sangiovese—partly from the Colli Senesi. As such, it is a somewhat rustic wine, but it’s one that will be a fine accompaniment at the dinner table. Leather, incense, tobacco and scorched earth complement a wine that shows the darker, wilder side of the variety. Pretty floral top notes appear with aeration. I would cellar this for a few years. Drink: 2027-2041. (Jul 2024)"

94 points James Suckling: "Bright and fresh with a lovely energy. Aromas of orange peel, chocolate, cherries and cedar follow through to a medium body, firm tannins and crisp acidity with a crunchy finish. Will age nicely but already delicious. (4/22/24)"

93 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "[$80 list] This is smoky, with a core of cherry, blackberry and plum flavors. Menthol, wild herbs and iron add accents and though this is supple, there's a solid structure of both bright acidity and moderate, dusty tannins, with fine balance and length. Sangiovese. Best from 2026 through 2042. (10/31/24)"
