Mid purple, a touch of vanilla, harmonious fruit which starts well and then explodes in energy. High toned with good acidity, entirely red fruit, this should become an exciting bottle of wine, even if it is sad for Gilbert to have had to combine the parts. Drink from 2031-2038. 92-94 points Kristaps Karklins (Wine Advocate): "The exceptional 2024 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru—a blend of Les Reignots, Les Petits Monts and Les Chaumes, incorporating fruit from Échezeaux Grand Cru—has turned out beautifully. With volumes too limited to vinify the components as separate cuvées, yet benefiting from the advantages of larger-volume vinification, the wine reveals a deep bouquet of dark cherry, peony, woodsmoke and orange rind, mingled with notes of Sichuan pepper. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, concentrated and precise, built around a pure, perfumed core of red fruit, with tannins fully cloaked by that fruit and a seamless profile that illustrates how the whole can sometimes outweigh its individual components. It will be highly seductive in its youth—and many bottles will undoubtedly be enjoyed as such—but it also possesses the structure to age gracefully for 15 years, or more. (2/26/26)"
