Felettig’s flagship workhorse bottling from a blend of some 20+ village level vineyards, all over 50 years of age. The best village Chambolle value on the market. Period.
90-92 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes, aged in 30% new oak with the same percentage of whole bunch, has an attractive, cohesive bouquet with clean, pure blackberry, bilberry and blueberry fruit, expressing the essence of Chambolle with style. The palate is medium-bodied with a sharp, penetrating entry, a keen line of acidity that lends this freshness and tension, and underneath the dark berry fruit a linear finish with tangible mineral tones lingering on the aftertaste. Excellent. Drink: 2020-2032. (Dec 2017)"
'Outstanding/Top value' and 89-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 20 different parcels; from yields of only 12 hl/ha and 30% whole cluster). This too is super-fresh with its more deeply pitched nose of dark raspberry, cherry, violet and a whiff of spice. The dense, serious and unusually concentrated flavors possess good power and minerality plus strikingly good depth and length for a villages level wine. This is not a Chambolle of grace and lace but rather one of density and drive. Drink: 2023+. (Jan 2018)"
90 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Domaine Felettig old vine Chambolle villages bottling included about twenty percent whole clusters in 2016 and was raised in thirty percent new oak. Gilbert Felettig noted that the natural alcohol here was thirteen percent and he chose not to chapitalize the wine. This is going to be a very, very good bottle of Chambolle 'V.V.', as it offers up a pure and black fruity bouquet of black cherries, gamebird, complex soil tones, woodsmoke, vanillin oak and a touch of balsam bough in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, tangy and nicely transparent in personality, with a fine core, ripple tannins and a long, vibrant and nascently complex finish. Good juice. 2023-2060. (Mar/Apr 2018)"
