92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Combottes 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the lively red fruit, the 60% whole bunch lending a soupçon of pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, taut and fresh with a gentle grip on the graphite-tinged, linear finish. Quite strict! Give this 4-5 years in the cellar. Drink: 2026-2050. (Dec 2021)"
91-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "The holding is rather better located than where the grapes for the 1er Cru blend come from, I understand, a little bit facing south. Old vines, pre-1955, have not suffered much in the drought. Shows the oak a little but clearly more stuffing than the negociant 1er cru. Just picked in time because there is a suggestion of sundried cherries and almost some raisins here, but does not lose balance. Long finish. (Dec 2021)"
91-93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from very old vines that are at least 65 years of age). Reduction though the underlying fruit is clearly ripe. Otherwise, the finer and denser flavors flash even more obvious minerality on the chalky, delicious and sneaky long finish that offers just a bit more overall depth. Lovely and very Chambollesque. Drink: 2030+. (Jan 2022)"
