Producer notes: "This Beaune 1er Cru cuvée comes from a plot of 0.54 ha located just below the climat 'La Montée Rouge'. The vines were planted in 1968. The wine has a rich crimson-purple color, and the nose exhibits a touch of sophistication. It boasts good depth with high-quality fruit and impressive length on the palate. Available since the 2018 vintage, the average yield is 35 hl/ha, with an annual production of about 2500 bottles."

Not yet reviewed; 2022 vintage rated 91-92 points by Japer Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Gilbert took over the vines in 2018 (planted 1968) and they needed a lot of work – not having been ploughed before. 35-40% whole bunches. A rich crimson purple, still reticent on the nose but showing some class. Good depth of dark fruit, then a livelier finish. He waits to pick this because he thinks 13.5% suits it, and this example would bear that out. 60% new wood has been tamed as well. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: December 2023."
