94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "The 2019 Clos St-Jacques delivers a huge, explosively deep purple black colour with a vast volume of exuberant fruit to match. More muscle, more structure, some firm tannins, very interesting escalation in structure across the three wines. This really will need time, and the acidity at the finish is a valuable component. Intensity continues long after the expected finish. Not as harmonious today as the Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, but all the building blocks are there. Tasted: November 2021."

94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a large 1.6 ha holding of 40+ year old vines). A discreet but not invisible application of oak still easily allows the overtly floral and spicy ripe black cherry, raspberry and earth aromas to shine. There is a bit more size, weight and punch to the more obviously mineral-inflected flavors that terminate in a mildly austere and highly persistent that is quite serious but manages to remain both stylish and classy. In a word, superb. Drink: 2034+. (Jan 2022)"

94 points La Revue du Vin de France: "More freshness and fruit pulp on the nose of Clos Saint-Jacques, which has to integrate its generous fruit, a lush wine a little saturated with ultra-mature flavors: without heaviness, it fills the palate but represents a taste we find hard to resist. (2023)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, well-defined but backward. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite dense and layered with touches of allspice and pain d'épices, veins of blood orange towards the finish that feels quite long. I suspect this will close down after three or four years as it tends to do, otherwise, cellar it away for a decade. Drink: 2030-2050. (Dec 2021)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "Like the others, lots of colour. Fine, silky and fresh in the mouth. Much more mouth-filling – a wine that focuses on the width than the direction – no grain to this tannin, either. A wine of stature, like the VV, and a certain degree of structure. Elegant but also very long finshing – that’s a great wine. (1/18/21)"
