97 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(2014 base vintage; disgorged July 2022; tasted in 2023 in Australia; 70% pinot noir, 30% chardonnay from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay; 2014 base vintage; aged 7 years on lees; disgorged July 2022; 3g/L dosage). The energy and freshness of 2014 are transcendental in the hands of Egly, driving a magic palate of citrus zest freshness and strawberry hull tang, bathed in the brilliant chalk minerality that only Ambonnay can achieve. This is a blend of monumental energy and stamina, with a huge future before it! Epic VP. (Edition VII; 2024)"
97 points James Suckling: "Stunning aromas of pie crust, lightly cooked apples and Asian pears. Full-bodied with lots of lovely rich fruit, spices and nuts. The finish is so intense, showing toasted bread and gorgeous salted butter, that it goes on for minutes. Seven years on the lees. Dosage 3 g/L. Drink now. (7/16/25)"
96 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The (2016) Extra Brut V.P. Grand Cru (Vieillissement Prolongé) is exquisite. A classic Egly-Ouriet Champagne, the 2016 release of the V.P. captures a gorgeous combination of texture built through long aging of 84 months on the lees with the vibrant style the house favors today. Dried pear, crushed flowers, mint, chamomile and light pastry notes all take shape with a bit of aeration. Time in the glass further amplifies the wine’s considerable textural presence. Dosage of 1 gram per liter works so well here. As always, the V.P. is a blend of Pinot Noir from sites in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. Dosage is 1 gram per liter. Disgorged: July 2024. Drink: 2026-2036. (Mar 2024)"
96 points/'Le Coup de Coeur,' La Revue du Vin de France: "On a 2015 base and after 87 months on lees, VP reveals a magnificent wine, endowed with great complexity. On the palate, it imposes its diffused power at the heart of a beautiful energy. (2025)"
96 points Bettanne & Desseauve (2025).
94 points Kristaps Karklins (Wine Advocate): "Disgorged in October 2024, after seven years sur lattes and with a dosage of one gram per liter, Egly's latest NV Grand Cru V.P. is based on the 2016 vintage (50%) with the remainder coming from 2015 and 2014. Opening in the glass with aromas of red apple, honeysuckle and tangerine zest mingling with spices, it is medium- to full-bodied and layered yet racy and fresh, supported by the incisive profile of the base year and concluding with a long, chalky finish. While not a young wine on paper, it certainly feels youthful in the glass, combining freshness with the complexity that comes with such long aging on the lees. Drink: 2025-2037. (5/8/25)"
94 points Tom Hewson (Decanter): "This is the same as the Grand Cru bottling but with extended lees ageing and, in this case, three years post-disgorgement. The lees ageing brings a remarkable aromatic range and substance on the palate – almost mascarpone with peach tart, macadamia nuts and dried berries, certainly showing some evolution on cork now with a thread of toasted nut and dried spice on the close. Hugely characterful and impressive for a wine of this age based on the complicated 2011 vintage. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with 66% reserves from 2010 and 2009, disgorged in 2019. Drinking Window: 2024-2029. (1/7/24)"
Importer notes: "This wine is Egly's treasure; with more than SIX YEARS on its lees, 'V.P.' (in French, 'extended aging') is a testament both to the greatness of his terroir and to his vision as an uncompromising Champagne artist. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, pulled from older vines in the three finest villages in the Montaigne de Reims."
